InterGender is a collaboration between gender studies units at the universities in Blekinge, Göteborg, Linköping, Luleå, Lund and Örebro, as well as gender studies units at the universities of Stockholm, Uppsala and Umeå. International partners are the Finnish, the Dutch and the Inter-Nordic gender research schools as well as the transdisciplinary gender research school at Humboldt University, Berlin.

Blekinge, Göteborg, Linköping, Luleå, Lund and Örebro universities offer PhD training for a degree in Gender Studies, and Stockholm, Uppsala and Umeå universities have developed plans for PhD degrees in Gender Studies. Linköping-Örebro, Uppsala and Umeå are appointed Swedish excellence centres in gender studies by the Swedish Research Council, and Umeå university if furthermore host of the largest Swedish gender research training programme.
